I also just finished teh 8 step redirect virus steps. On the right hand side of the pane, you’ll see a list of all the programs that you’ve ever installed on your computer but Internet Explorer 8 will not be present So my plan was to uninstall and re-install the 32-bit version, which is when I realized I had a bigger problem.
