Windows Xp Freezes After A Few Minutes
This method involves unscrewing the screws on the side of the computer case and using compressed air to clean the dust inside. It came back with Error Cod 0142, Hard Drive 0 test unsuccessful. When you use the event viewer you should be given to links to sites that discuss possible reasons for the problem. Some are logged under the system logs, and some under applications.

I use mostly IBM, and only their higher end models, freezes are extremely rare. Tech Support Guy is completely free -- paid for by advertisers and donations. I apologize for the generality of my suggestions, but your problem sounds severe as you describe it, and I don't want to say something I don't know for certain. Where do I find the System event log?

I would never trust it or Prime95 to test my system stability as I've passed such things with no errors for 24 hours and yet have had freezes in games, even Rubbish... So I took the drive into bestbuy-my roomate works there- and he ran diagnostics. i noticed my receiving PC stopped the transfer for danger of corrupting the data already transferred. (windows 7 is so smart) i checked my server and sure enough she was 100% perfect one day and failure to boot the next. Around 7 times out of 10, right before it freezes, the mouse or cursor becomes huge in size, and I can move it around a bit until the system completely hangs it was installing .NET framework and some other updates when this occured.
