Helpful +4 Report Zimmy May 1, 2009 at 02:09 AM like others, mine will load up, I log in...once I click anything it freezes..i have finals next week where I have Error code returned is in data DWORD 0. Any ideas? I dual boot windows 10 with Ubuntu 14.04, and the problem occurs in Ubuntu as well.
- There may be a problem with this extensible counter or the service it is collecting data from or the system may have been very busy when this call was attempted.
- I apologize for the generality of my suggestions, but your problem sounds severe as you describe it, and I don't want to say something I don't know for certain.
- I do not recommend downloading the optional program Desktop Search.
- Now, since you suspect those updates to be the cause, I think it would be easiest if you you backed those out.
Notes: I didn't buy the computer on my own so I don't have a warranty. Always great to hear the resolution. Finally, do a system restore to repair errors that virus/trojan may have do. Windows Xp Not Shutting Down Completely Repair/reinstall is never a good option, as it doesn't affect programs/files you may have which are causing the problem.

Subsequent hangs seem to have come on gradually - Firefox stops responding, followed by whatever I click on. So , guyz i think it's from the update from downloading new frameworks and desktop search , though i uninstalled desktop search. So none of that seems to be helping. Most Lenovo systems have on-board diagnostics. If it's just something minor that's wonky, I've had success with Crap Cleaner when I was still running XP. Right before freezing, the cursor becomes huge and I can't click anything, and then a few minutes later the computer freezes.

When i try to shutdown my computer , it stops or just freezes at ' Your computer is shutting down ' . Try Start - Run - type in "msconfig", and click the Startup Tab. 2. Any ideas? I did try using a System Restore to go back three days as well, but that didn't seem to help.
